The Real War

Today is the one-year anniversary of Theo van Gogh’s murder for making an uncomplimentary film about Islam. (Warning: Film includes nudity.)
The Iranian president, who was one of the men who held Americans hostage until Reagan put a stop to it, just said Israel should be wiped off the map.
Paris and Denmark are burning in Muslim riots. The Netherlands live under threat daily.
There are new reports of beheadings every week.
Brussels and the Netherlands have a new grammar rule where, when referring to religion, the “c” in Christian and the “j” in Jew are to be lower-cased. Absent from that ruling, however, is the “i” in Islamic.
I spent a lot of time finding facts and quotes for The Gitmo Cookbook (shameless plug - buy it today, all profits go to the USO) but a couple of my personal favorites:
“We are not fighting so that you will offer us something. We are fighting to eliminate you.”
Hussein Massawi, former leader of Hezbollah.“Carrying out terrorism is one of the tenets of our religion and Shariah. This war is fundamentally religious. Under no circumstances should we forget this war between us and the infidels. For the enmity is based on creed.”
Osama bin Laden
Examine the news critically - not to discover whether you ought to vote Republican or Democrat. Examine it to see where the true battle lies. And remember, next time you hear “Bush lied,” or “Liberal MSM” that these things all draw your attention from the only battle that truly matters.
For what is your life? For it is a vapor, which appears for a little time, and then disappears. (James 4:14 MKJV)
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world’s rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12 MKJV)
And Jesus answered and said to them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many will come in My name, saying, I am Christ, and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must occur; but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted and will kill you. And you will be hated of all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another. And many false prophets will rise and deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will become cold. But he who endures to the end, the same shall be kept safe. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come. (Matthew 24:4-14 MKJV)
We have such a short time here - maybe 70 or 80 years at the most, for most people. Don’t waste your time fighting the wrong battles. Who won the 2006 elections will be supremely unimportant in 10,000 years. What will be important is Whom did you serve? How much did you give of your heart, your time, and your money to the things that glorify God? Live for eternity.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Great (and scary) post. In today’s world of “everything goes” it is politically incorrect to say anything against Islam (although that PC rule doesn’t seem to apply to Christianity…). I am hoping the postmodern relativism will die out… but, sadly, I doubt it will be any time soon.
One thing that is good, I think, is that since Islam is taking such a large role in the world, it will finally fall under the scrutiny that Christianity has. If the Quran falls under the same microscope that the Bible has, it will fall apart and it will be interesting to see how Islam reacts / deals with that. Time will tell.
Cheers,
Matt
