Why I will always love New Orleans.

I’ve lived cities up and down the east coast, but I’ve never lived in one that has a sense of humor quite like New Orleans. During the worst of the flooding, the nola.com message boards had a post from one guy who gave the fishing reports on Claiborne, Esplanade, and Canal Street, including high tide, low tide, and recommended bait.
These pictures are another great example of why New Orleans will come back. Slowly, and things won’t be exactly like they were before (which is good), but we will come back. These are a few photos of this year’s Christmas village at Lakeside Mall.
Blue roof, check.
Messed up fence, check.
Pile of debris, check.
Orange paint on the side of the house, check.

I love how so many of the houses have the blue tarp roofs.
Note the signs on the pumping station – there is already a movement to recall Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard for sending the pump station operators away and allowing millions of dollars worth of flood damage to occur.
And of course, no Christmas village would be complete without a helicopter rescue.

Like an aging monument, democracy itself is crumbling.
Evidently many people were offended by this display and it was taken down!
They had so many complaints about taking it down, that they put it back up.
