There is a new
When I was a kid, the two big scares that were promoted were the upcoming global ice age, and overpopulation. That’s what the experts knew conclusively just a quarter of a century ago. I’m not willing to place any bets on what they will know in another 25 years. I am profoundly skeptical of this new organization and those who signed on for it. Here is their manifesto. Here are the signatories, probably most notable is
Speaking of stewardship, they are spending tens of thousands of dollars on full page ads in the NY Times and other publications as well as TV commercials. Couldn’t they think of anything better to do with the money?

Bingo. I can think of many worthy ministries and works of God that could benefit from that money and put it to much more fruitful use. We already have two major political parties. Why can’t Christians work within existing political entities and let the church do what only the church can do? Is that so difficult?
I’m all for letting the church do what only the church can do. Each of these signatories has some sort of audience. They should put their money where their mouth is (implement as much green technology in their lives as possible) and let their audience know about it and why. No additional cost that way. To be in a position of leadership with access to funds like this, and then spend the funds on a marketing campaign seems… immoral.
I could think of a lot of things to do with that money: give to the Salvation Army…oh wait, they might give it back to ECI, buy copies of Purpose Driven Life to sneak into China…oh wait, same problem. Ah, forget it. I’m going to Vegas (and pass out tracks, of course).
