Christian Carnival CXX

This week’s Christian Carnival is being held at Daddypundit. As always, you can find some of the best of the Christian blogosphere at the Carnival, and this week a couple of posts really stood out to me.
Northern ‘burbs blog examines how Christians need to be salt and light in political involvement.
Imago Dei has video and the transcript from Shirley Phelps (daughter of Fred, of the God Hates Fags website fame) interview on on Hannity and Colmes. What really struck me about this is how Christians publicly marginalize radical heretics like this. Whatever religion the Phelps are practicing, it isn’t Christianity, and we don’t hesitate to say so. Unfortunately, much of the media uses the Phelps family as representative Christians. The post also reminds us that even while we need to declare that this “is a sick and twisted view of Christianity” that the woman proclaiming it is LOST. And that Jesus loves her and died for her too. It cut right through my anger at the defamation of my faith and stirred up some pity and a prayer that someday she’ll know God’s mercy and grace. Because she surely doesn’t know it now.
Enjoy the Carnival!

I completely agree!!
Can this apply to Islam as well? They are lost, but Jesus loves and died for them as well. Are we too quick to declare that they are sick and twisted without recognizing that Jesus longs for them as well? I don’t know. It is a tough issue. So much of their crap needs to be pointed out but I also wonder how we can share Jesus with them as well… Thoughts?
I like your new color scheme as well.
Blessings
It does apply to Islam, and we need to pray for Muslims. The salvation of Muslims is pretty much the only thing that will ultimately end the war. But the difference is, the Phelps family is merely disgusting, offensive, and giving Christians a bad name. They might protest your funeral and call you a fag, but they’re not trying to take your freedom, behead you, and destroy your entire civilization. Whereas the radical Islamists intend to do just that, by their own admission. So I’m praying, AND supporting the war and the troops every way I can. I know missionaries in Islamist countries. They are VERY, VERY careful. Beheadings of Christians are ramping up in Indonesia, for example, and rumors I’m hearing from Saudi and Pakistan are very disquieting.
Glad you like the new look. I do too; I’ll probably stick with this a while. But I still like your design better.
Well said. It is definitely different when things are done in the name of Christianity. I know where a Muslim stands but interaction with one claiming Christianity can be more difficult.
Glad you like my design. I am actually going to try to build one from the ground up… not sure if it will work at all, but it will be an interesting experience!
