Before I met her, I was unaware that any US territory was conquered by the Japanese...and if it wasn't for Midway, Hawaii may have fallen. I have another friend who was evacuated after Pearl Harbor because the Navy was worried about this, and they felt families were safer risking submarine sinking than staying. Thank God the press was not as negative...they would say they were "fair and balanced" because they present all sides, but it translates against the US...
