Genuine Bias

July 3, 2006 by Laura | Trackback URI

After the most recent NY Times attack on western civilization (how’s that for a loaded phrase! ;-) ) there is a great deal of talk about media bias. Like torture, it’s a serious charge and throwing it around carelessly only minimizes it when it’s actually true. Christopher Taylor at World Around the Net has a set of articles on Genuine Bias. It’s all too easy to attribute to bias actual mistakes, slothfulness, incompentence and credulity. This series of articles is a great primer on how to spot actual bias in comparison to reporting affected by the human foibles from which we all suffer.

Part One - The Mistake
Part Two - Sloth
Part Three - Incompetence and Credulity
Part Four - The Real Thing
