A Line in the Sand

Just a general rant here: I wish people would give that whole “line in the sand” expression a rest. I’ve heard it on Fox and CNN several times in the last 24 hours, a la “Israel is drawing a line in the sand with these abductions/kidnappings/prisoners” (depending on which station is on). The problem with our middle east foreign policy is that it IS a line in the sand. Easily erased, easily redrawn, easily removed by the wind.
I’d like to see a line in the CONCRETE. As in, we’re not going to change or soften our position, and we’re not going to negotiate with terrorists or treat them the way we’d like to be treated ourselves. Leave the “nuance” to John Kerry and the rest of the metrosexuals. The radical Islamists’ stated goal is not equality, it is superiority. We should take them at their word, and treat them accordingly; not as backwards children who need our guidance and good example, but as dangerous foes who read us exceedingly well and know where the weak spots are in our armor.
