Check Your Milk Cartons 2

[bumped]
Have you seen me lately?
I’m back to posting after a brief break due to the Daughter Of The House being rear-ended by a drunk driver, preparations for Ernesto, which thankfully is not coming here after all, and a TON of work.
My mother and daughter were hit on Friday night by someone either drunk or on drugs. He was arrested, and I’m not sure what his current status is. I hope he’s still in jail. The DOTH wasn’t injured too badly, but she was already scheduled for surgery on 9/12 for a shoulder injury, and this didn’t help matters. She’s in a lot of pain. My mother was with her in the car, and she’s feeling pretty rough too - you know how it is the first few days after an accident. To add insult to injury, it was my mother’s first brand new car - a little over 5,000 miles on it - and now it is probably totaled. To add insult to insult, the DUI driver was not an English speaker, he was apparently one of the thousands of illegal aliens who has come here since Katrina. He had a State Farm insurance card, but the likelihood of him having valid insurance is pretty slim. My mother has uninsured motorist insurance, of course, but it’s just wrong for her insurance company to have to pick this up.
I’ll be posting more regularly this week. In the meantime, have an open trackback or two!
