Well, presumably I’m enjoying my last few hours of R & R in this lovely place.
We booked the Rosemound Suite. True, the bathroom is painted purple, but I think that is more than cancelled out by the two person Jacuzzi enclosed within those walls. I’m more of a minimalist/modern/Art Deco type, so this kind of frou-frou decorating is not what I’d pick. On the other hand, it’s so completely different that I think it’ll be nice for a few days. (I’m posting this in advance, remember.) I’ve never been disappointed with any B&B we’ve stayed in, and I don’t expect to be this time. If you’ve never stayed at a B&B I highly recommend it. The cost is less than or comparable with that of a nice hotel, but normally with better amenities and better food. For example, when is the last time you stayed at the Hilton in a suite for less than $100 a night, and had a jacuzzi, a lake, fishing poles and boats available for your use and a full gourmet breakfast? It lacks anonymity, but for me that’s a feature, not a bug. I like being able to ask my host what’s good in the area and having the time to discuss it and get good directions from someone who personally cares whether we enjoy our stay in the area. The average Hilton or Ramada desk clerk doesn’t have the time or inclination to be that helpful. Try it for your next anniversary or just a weekend getaway.
