God tells Pat Robertson to prepare for mass killing in 2007
Robertson’s previous wrong “prophecies” have not deterred him from embarrassing us all again. According to the linked CNN report, Pat Robertson said God gave him the heads up on a terrorist attack that will “cause a “mass killing”" later this year.
Last years predictions included:
The war in Iraq is going to come to a successful conclusion, and we’ll begin withdrawing troops before the end of the year.”
It seems more likely that he’s been calling psychics on 900 numbers, because he’s not getting this from God. Granted, he’s not venturing into Phelps-level embarrassment, but he’s also not doing the God he proclaims he loves any favors by spewing this nonsense. Remember Oral Roberts? Roberts said God would strike him down if he didn’t raise eight million dollars. Unfortunately for atheists worldwide, he ended up with 9.1 million. A little timely fire and brimstone action would have been quite an evangelism tool. What a lost opportunity!
I believe this is the key statement from the CNN report:
“I have a relatively good track record,” he said. “Sometimes I miss.”
God doesn’t miss. If Pat needed an indicator that he needs to shut his yap, his own statement provided it. Unfortunately it seems he lacks the wisdom to do so.
I am profoundly suspicious of any preacher who attains any kind of fame. So far, Billy Graham – as far as I know – is clean. The rest of them seem compelled to dabble, or worse, dive right in the political pool. Rick Warren is certainly wading in, and nothing good is going to come of it. But if I could communicate with these men, I would tell them in no uncertain terms, with a hat tip to Laura Ingraham:
Shut up and preach.

Can I say Amen? Seriously, these guys don’t realize what a bad name they give Christians when they go the “media” direction. I really used to like his show, but lately it seems he’s just giving people something to scoff at.
Good article!
Ditto on the Amen!
