It’s one thing to know that many, many veterans despise Kerry. It’s quite another to see it, as in this comment on Kerry Betrayed The Troops 36 Years Ago This Week:

Vietnam Veterans Legacy Foundation has filed legal actions to force Kerry to, under oath, answer to charges he lied about the Vietnam Vets. after he was discharged…I paypal them $100.00 ASAP, and will send $100.00 a month for life, if required. I hate the Dirty Rat ******* more then life its self… May the last words on my lips be “Screw you John Kerry, you sorry *** North Vietnam Vet” Please try to ask all to dig in to help pay legal fees, God will pay you back on the other side. Please visit GATHERINGOGEAGLES.ORG, we support troops, we were at the Wall on March 17th when Black Bloc stated they would damage the Vietnam. 30,000 strong. YouTube view “Remember Me” a message from the family at war, to home, 16 year old girl made it. You wil weep!!.
Here’s the Remember Me video to which he refers, and the Gathering of Eagles site is well worth a look.
I can’t help but wonder if Harry Reid will be remembered by today’s troops the way that Kerry is remembered by Vietnam Vets. The recent troop response (1, 2, 3) at Michelle Malkin’s to his white flag waving has been deservedly harsh. Joe Lieberman, a liberal (not a blue dog) Democrat shunned by his party solely for supporting the war, responded pretty sternly as well (emphasis added):
“This week witnessed horrific terrorist attacks by Islamist extremists in Iraq, killing hundreds of innocent civilians and leading Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to declare that the war is ‘lost.’
With all due respect, I strongly disagree. Senator Reid’s statement is not based on military facts on the ground in Iraq and does not advance our cause there.
Al Qaeda’s strategy for victory in Iraq is clear. They are trying to murder as many innocent civilians as possible in an effort to reignite sectarian fighting and drive us to retreat from Iraq.
The question now before us is whether we respond to these terrorist attacks by running away as Al Qaeda hopes – abandoning the future of Iraq, the Middle East, and ultimately our own security to the very same people responsible for this week’s atrocities – or whether we stand united to fight them.
This is exactly the wrong time to conclude that we have lost the war in Iraq, or that our new strategy has failed. Instead, we should provide General Petraeus and his troops with the time and the resources to succeed. We should not surrender in the face of barbarism.”
Reports on milblogs and Iraqi blogs seem to indicate that the tide is turning. I look forward to seeing the political careers of Reid, Pelosi, and the rest of the surrender monkeys crash and burn. This quote from a letter at MM’s says it all:
I have a message for Senator Harry Reid, a message from the past that is heard in the wailing and groaning of our founders turning in their graves:
“Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, and then say, ‘What should be the reward of such sacrifices?’ Bid us and our posterity bow the knee, supplicate the friendship, and plough, and sow, and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us the dogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!” – Samuel Adams
