Captain's Quarters has this post -

In today's Washington Post, Hoshyar Zebari implores Americans and the world not to abandon Iraq to the terrorists and sectarian lunatics. Zebari explains that Iraq has changed profoundly since liberation, and the media paint a distorted picture of his country.

There's a lot more going on than the car bombs and sectarian violence that the media reports so gleefully. Seen video recently of traffic jams of people waiting to get into an amusement park and restaurant openings? I certainly remember video of people waiting in line for gasoline - it reminded me of the Carter administration. But no, the media didn't show any footage of even these small successes in Iraq, and NO, I'm not saying it's a tourist's paradise. I am saying that a whole lot of Iraqis are working to make things better, taking a chance on the future we've been working so hard to give them the freedom to establish, including insurgents coming over to our side against al Qaeda and reporting foreign jihadis to our troops. Progress is being made daily. Now is NOT the time to throw in the towel.]

Breaking: Clinton Wants Iraq Deauthorized:

Sen. Hillary Clinton took to the Senate floor to back Sen. Robert Byrd’s effort to de-authorize the Iraq war and force President Bush to return to Congress for reauthorization. The authorization would expire under this proposal on it’s fifth anniversary: Oct. 11, 2007.

Clinton said: “It is time to sunset the authorization for the war in Iraq. If the president will not bring himself to accept reality, it is time for Congress to bring reality to him.”

Clinton just one-upped Edwards and put Obama on notice.

She also put al Qaeda and Iran on notice - Democratic leadership is determined to surrender, so keep killing our troops so the public will let us run away.
