Save The Planet! Buy An SUV!

July 15, 2007 by Laura | Trackback URI

Global warming has been at the forefront of issues concerning the world’s scientists for decades. Environmental activists have taken a staunch anti-global warming stance as they attempt to spread the word and educate as many people as possible on the dangers of the greenhouse effect.

All that changed on July 7th, 2007 when the organization known as Save Our Selves launched Live Earth. The Live Earth event, which consisted of a series of concerts held around the world, was co-chaired by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore. Unfortunately, an unexpected problem arose from the day’s transpirings.

“Live Earth was phenomenal”, Gore reports. “My only concern is that it worked too well. According to my most recent numbers, we’re beginning to see global cooling emerge as a legitimate threat.”

Bwahahaha!!!

But the real joke is that actual warnings of global cooling have already started.

We were not considering the climate when we bought our first SUV back November 2006. We just needed transportation. :)

What does global warming have to do with Christianity? This is just another example of Republican-Jesus, the conversion of Christianity into a tool for moving political issues. The interests who oppose accepting Global Warming are the hydrocarbon extraction industries. Oil, gas, coal and to some extent Detroit although they are pretty much finished off as a political concern. I just don’t see what burning more coal has to do with Christianity? Personally, I could care less if the earth warms or it doesn’t. I just hate to see Christianity used as a tool in debating what is essentially an economic issue. Seriously - discussing Global Warming on a Christian Blog is essentially money-changers in the temple.

Oh, get over yourself. This blog is certainly not a temple. In your world, are atheists also restricted to one area of interest? I have nothing to do with an industry, but I oppose it because this is the 5th time the climate change card has been played. The NY Times started it in eighteen-ninety-five. They just keep switching between cooling and warming. It’s definitely an economic issue - they’re wielding it like a mallet to move us closer to socialism - a system that is historically inhospitable to religious freedom. Christians ought to be standing up against it.

    What about global lukewarmness?!?

 It lacks the drama factor.
