How to kill a blog in 60 days? Stop posting. New bloggers always want to know how to get traffic. There’s a million gimmicky things to do but the bottom line is to post often. (Well, you need to be a decent writer, too, but that’s another story.) In the last couple of months I’ve let the traffic at PH go from 4 – 5,000 visitors a day down to four to five hundred visitors a day. It’s incredibly easy to do – just don’t post regularly. The spike in September is Jena 6, by the way.

When I started blogging it was all about bible studies. Eventually I felt convicted about the fact that I wasn’t called to teach or preach, so I stopped that, instead writing more about politics and more about my personal walk. Then for a while I was in a really dry time spiritually and it was almost exclusively politics/personal entries.
Now, spiritually there’s a lot going on, but I don’t know that I want to write about it yet. And as for politics, I never said anything a million other people didn’t say, so why bother? And I’m undergoing a change in my political thinking as well. Not that I’m not conservative, because I am as conservative as I ever was, but I’m taking it all a lot less seriously. Someone I know recently said – I don’t believe this was entirely facetious – that if Hillary! wins he’s renouncing his citizenship. Umm…. yeah. I’ve heard that theme played by several conservative Christians with varying degrees of volume. I can’t stand her either, and I think it will be a black day in our history if she wins. But there’s no need for the drama, folks.
Best case scenario – we get four years of Hillary followed by eight of a conservative – along the lines of the “We wouldn’t have had Reagan without Carter” theory. Worst case scenario – the flip side of every BDS infected Kos Kid’s deranged fantasy is true and she really does usher in a new era of Marxism/Stalinism. The economy tanks. Jihadists are emboldened and attack with impunity, since all they have to fear is life in prison (death sentence being abolished, of course) and they probably won’t even be found guilty because nobody thought to Mirandize them. Everybody gets “free” health care but nobody can get in to see a doctor. Christians will be arrested for preaching the bible. Homeschooling will be abolished and children will be forced to undergo indoctrination. Chaos! Anarchy! Dogs and cats, living together… you get the picture. From a Christian standpoint, it’s all good. In miserable and repressive China and North Korea, the church is growing exponentially faster than it is in the west. So get over yourselves and stop thinking for the short term and your own personal comforts. Think for eternity, and remember that God puts the kings on the thrones, and that He is sovereign. If Hillary wins and even if all those unlikely things actually come to pass, God won’t be up there saying “Oh, crap! She actually won!” and scrambling to come up with an alternate plan.
Personally, there’s a lot going on. My daughter is in the chorus of an opera – in fact we’re teasing her about being “on tour” because the show is in a nearby city this weekend. I’m praying about a major change in my business. I don’t know what I’m going to do about the blog, long term. Sure, I can get back into the swing of it and increase traffic again within a month or so, but why? Other than blogging for porn, that is – which has actually been the primary reason I’ve kept it up for nearly two years. I’ve often enjoyed blogging and always have been interested in what I’ve posted, but keeping a high enough ranking to gain search engine porn traffic and refer it here has been my #1 motivator. For now, I’m going to do something a little different, and post a sermon series and see how it goes.
If you’re reading this post – thanks for sticking around. And if anyone is interested in co-blogging, shoot me an email and we can discuss it.

I stopped blogging for a period of 3 months in the past and recently, I’ve come back to blogging. I’ve learned to accept that I should really be blogging for the right reasons. I’m now blogging for the love of writing what I’m interested in. It makes for more interesting posts anyway, something that readers would appreciate. Thanks for your ministry on the net.
Blessings.
Kevin
Thanks, Kevin.
