I haven’t been doing much blog reading lately, other than regular stops at a couple of favorites. Since I can’t sleep, I browsed through what I’ve been missing. And it’s just as well that I’m up – our dishwasher runs on a timer in the middle of the night, so this is the first I’m hearing of a truly awful noise it’s making. I don’t know how we ever slept through this – maybe it just started tonight. If it keeps up, I may be asking for a dishwasher for Christmas instead of this. But I digress.
Here’s a nifty video my daughter showed me:
In His Technical Service has a roasted butternut squash soup recipe I’m dying to try. Metro Moms has a whole series on hospitality and since we’re kicking off the Christmas season, now’s the time to read it!
Cobb always has something good to read – #14 of The First 22 Rules nearly caused tea to shoot from my nose. And you shouldn’t miss the saga of Three Angry Black Men and the Commie Pinko Hillbilly.
Outtakes at Evangelical Outpost has some interesting links on Christians and voting and politics. I had forgotten about a post I’d written on this topic in June. Our civic duty is important, but Hebrews 11:13-16 makes it clear where the main focus of our attention should lie.
Shane delivers some good, but unsolicited advice to a friend, which got me thinking… an important part of friendship is talking tough when a friend really needs it. It’s hard to do, and can be risky. But speaking the truth (in love) is one of the biggest gifts you can give a person. If we really care, we’ll go out on that limb. But not so often that we become sanctimonious, preachy little twits who need to invest in a few pairs of these. (And on a side note, why is the word “underpants” so amusing? Cracks me up every time. I have no idea why.)
If you know what Web 2.0 is, or who Tim Berners-Lee is, you’ll want to read this post about the Graph.
Matt’s talking about Sex! Sex! Sex! – a frequently awkward topic in Christian circles, although it should not be.
I’m long overdue for a trackback party, and since this post is chock full of links deserving attention, it will do nicely.
