Update on Haditha Marines

Pat Dollard has an update via San Jose Mercury News. I would dearly love to see Murtha held accountable for his comments.

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif.—A legal advocacy group that supports Christians has filed motions to dismiss charges against a Marine Corps officer accused of failing to investigate the killing of 24 people by Marines in Haditha, Iraq, in 2005.

… Among the motions filed are requests to compel the deposition of U.S. Rep. John Murtha over comments he made about Marines killing “in cold blood” in Haditha and two motions to dismiss all charges against Chessani.

And Blackfive reports that PBS’ Frontline actually had a fair and evenhanded show about it and convinced him that the Marines were innocent.

well, many of us would love to see the pro-war neo-con’s actually serve in the military, put their actions where their mouths are. Agree or disagree with Murtha, he actually saw real combat, actually knows what war really consists of; unless his detractors also know combat, their critique rings as less than hollow. And what in the world does this have to do with a Christian advocacy group? Christian as in “white male segregationist stereotype hiding behind Jesus”? The variety being rejected by this nation, and even the (apparent) majority of the Republican party?!

Oh, yes, the chickenhawk argument. How original.

And of course, Christians should not have the right to opinions or to engage in advocacy. /sarc

Your opinion of the GOP (which I’m not a fan of myself) is as much a stereotype as that of the Godless liberal.
