The first article refers to the government listening in on international calls as they did for decades without warrants, and protecting telecoms who cooperate with government investigations from class action lawsuits from people who can’t prove they were harmed by such activity. “Eavesdropping” indeed.
The second article references a “a sudden escalation of violence” simply because an Israeli was actually killed, completely ignoring the nearly nonstop missiles raining on Sderot for months, and taking care in the second paragraph to state that Israel is at fault for starting the trouble.
