A Triptych Of Offensive Advertising
The Orwellian process of culling our speech of anything that has the potential to offend continues apace. These are three ads which were either not displayed or displayed briefly and taken down because they were deemed offensive.
Advertising condemning forced marriages is unacceptable in civilized company. (The forced marriages themselves are evidently A-okay.)

Yesterday I took note of this ad at The Black Informant. It’s “racially insensitive.” More insensitive, I guess, than the statistic that says “nearly 33 deaths per 100,000 blacks in Missouri were the result of homicides… the overwhelming majority of the deaths were caused by firearms, especially handguns” in the state where the ad was briefly shown. Better to let the problem go unaddressed than to hurt anyone’s feelings, all things considered.
Finally, this demonstrably true ad put out by a gay activist group caused an uproar:
Evidently even self-criticism is out of bounds when it addresses certain behaviors - like having high-risk sex.
Another victory for post-modernism - the triumph of feelings over facts.
