My husband’s work schedule has changed – instead of going in early for a couple of hours of overtime as he has done for months, he now doesn’t have to leave the house until 7:45. With his overtime schedule, we got out of the habit of bible reading and prayer in the morning. Rather than get back into a daily bible study now, we’ve taken to drinking coffee in bed and enjoying some occasionally silly conversation. This morning’s conversation included this provoking thought -
“So…”
“So, what? What are you sowing?”
“I’m sowing worldliness and hoping to reap holiness.”
There’s nothing wrong with having that time together… but if we’re not fitting any devotional time into the morning, then as a practical matter the rest of the day doesn’t get devoted to God.
