$11,102.00

That’s $925.16 a month. $213.50 a week. $30.42 a day.

I feel sick.

Update: But I feel loads better now that I know Ted Kennedy is paying his fair share.

So let’s see – that’s $11k for me and my three person family living in a three bedroom ranch and owning two cars that are seven and ten years old. While the Kennedys own multiple estates, have servants, planes, limos and are millionaires. Yes, that certainly seems fair.

Mind you, if Kennedy didn’t routinely engage in class warfare for his own gain I wouldn’t be so aggravated about it.

If you scale it way, way down – I shop at Sam’s and enjoy lower prices by virtue of having a) enough money to pay for my membership and b) enough room to store bulk items. So one might perceive that situation as being completely unfair to people making minimum wage and living in an apartment. In fact, we used to live in a tiny apartment and have worked our way up to where we are now – homeowners and small business owners. That’s the beauty of this country; we have the freedom to make correct choices and change our financial situation. So I don’t begrudge Kennedy his wealth and to a large extent I don’t begrudge him his tax shelter. If we keep working hard and making good choices, we may – or our daughter may – enjoy that tax shelter too.

But I do begrudge the way he pretends there is a fixed supply of wealth in this country and that the rich are purposefully keeping it away from the poor, the way he demands higher taxes of others but not of himself, the way he claims to be in favor of new sources of energy but blocks a wind farm that will take away from the perfect view from his gated estate… I begrudge him all that and more.
