Ripped from the Headlines

April 25, 2008 by Laura | Trackback URI

Hot Air’s headlines, that is, and with quite a few additional links -

At least nobody cried racism…

Actor Wesley Snipes has not filed a tax return for ten years thereby evading tens of millions of dollars in federal income tax. Now he has been sentenced to jail for three years, which strikes [Tigerhawk] as a light sentence under the circumstances.

Newsflash: Jimmy Carter is a bigoted, pathetic joke who lives on the Islamic extremist and South American dictator dole. What’s really sad about this is that he was on track to be a really outstanding ex-President with his charity work, including Habitat for Humanity. Had he just kept his mouth shut we would have forgotten how the yellow ribbons tradition started.

Rachel Maddow makes stuff up: Johnny Dollar is still watching Olbermann so we don’t have to.

Feeding Cars Instead of People: Ed Morrissey and The Anchoress wonder if we should go ahead and feed people instead of cars. That’s far too sensible a plan for Congress to take up.

Dumpster Diving for Bibles
Ace acquired a copy of the bible translation used in Obama’s church and now evidently Frank J managed to get hold of Nancy Pelosi’s bible. He’s typed out a few excerpts:

“And Jesus said, ‘Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, because he’s the government and he knows how to spend your money better. Seriously, give your money to him and not to me or my followers; religious charities are no match for the benevolence of the government.’ Jesus then mocked everyone who believed in Him for being stupid and closed-minded.”

I’ve posted on that concept before in Social Justice, for the Glory of Government.

I was rather amused by one the other day who approached me outside of starbucks. He was very convivial and introduced himself. He then said he was a Korean war vet and that he hopes everything goes well over there. He was not any older then me (I am definitely not of the Korean War Era, that was my grand dad). I told him if he wanted his story to stick he might want to say Iraq.

I agree with giving to ministrys that hand up not hand out, but each person needs to be sensitive to the move of God and ask what he would have them do. Sometimes, the answer is a surprise.

No, what you’re suggesting, Carl, is equating the “will of God” with your own imperfect and overly-emotional conscience. Do NOT give these people money. Where I live, they’re everywhere, and they will scam you all day long.
