Human rights violation?

I saw a link to this article at The Black Informant:

Good fathers ‘powerless against vengeful mothers’ - Telegraph
Lord Justice Ward attacked child access law after presiding over a case that saw a “vicious” mother falsely accuse her ex-husband of sexually abusing their child.

He spoke out after telling the father that there was nothing he could do to help him re-establish contact with his daughter after his ex-wife turned her against him.

The man’s 14-year-old daughter, who cannot been identified, had been influenced by a “drip, drip, drip of venom” from his ex-wife, who wanted to deny him his paternal rights.

… At a later court hearing, the father virtually admitted that further meetings would distress [the child].

At the Court of Appeal, Lord Justice Ward refused the father permission to appeal his decision. The father is considering taking a case to the European Court of Human Rights.

As sympathetic as I am with this man - because this has happened to quite a few people I know - that last sentence is quite frightening. If he proceeds, what then? Mothers and fathers duking it out in court based on the testimony of the child - what he said, what she said. As much as children are manipulated and made pawns now, it will only get worse. What mothers do to get revenge on the fathers of their children is unequivocally wrong. But it’s not a wrong that any “Human Rights” court has any chance at all of putting right.

The simple fact is that women have the control and will retain it. We can choose to give birth, or we can kill the baby. You get no say. We can divorce you for no reason at all, and there’s certainly no social stigma for not marrying you simply because we’re pregnant. It’s our decision. And where children are concerned, you’re going to pay up, and pay big, and pay for a long time. If you don’t do it voluntarily, the government will make you. Welcome to the sexual revolution! Hope you’re enjoying all that “free” sex.

Furthermore, you can’t unring the bell. The only chance you men have to avoid these situations is to keep it zipped before marriage, and select your bride very carefully. In short, conduct yourselves as you did before abortions and divorce on demand were legal and single parenting was socially acceptable. Conduct yourselves as if there will be long-term consequences for your actions. Because there are.

(And a pre-nup with a mediation requirement wouldn’t be a bad idea, either.)
