What I’m Reading Instead Of Working
Actually I got off to such an early start this morning that instead of reading my favorite blogs and news before 9am, I ended up on a long support call with one of my favorite clients. Interestingly, he’s in Philly, and his neighborhood has been taken over by Russians. Not Red Dawn-style, but the same way parts of the New Orleans metro area have become Mexican/Latino since Katrina. He actually has to choose English on his ATM - it comes up first as Russian. The Russians, however, are not out there protesting, and they’re not building consulates to enable illegal immigration - like the one here in New Orleans that my husband has been working in. The copy store across the street from the new Mexican consulate that President Bush helped cut the ribbon for is doing a booming business for passport photos - for Matricula Consulars.
WaPo has a refreshingly positive article on a troop - probably because it’s a woman who earned a Silver Star. What, I’m too cynical? They ought to be doing features like this at least once a week. Still, the story is fascinating, she’s absolutely a heroine, and I’m delighted that she’s being recognized as such.
A fabulous NPR headline: Some Patients Say Life After LASIK Not Perfect. What, it was perfect before?
McCain is engaging in more uninformed pandering - this time in Minnesota.
One of the most amazing things about multiculturalism is that it’s the one thing that has caused American feminists to finally shut up.
I’m not sure, but this may be the first Presidential election where the winner really will be who we collectively hate the least.
