Pointless Congressional Ambush

For a slightly amusing timewaster, watch the video of Congressman William “Cold Cash” Jefferson being ambushed by Jason Mattera of the Young America Foundation over at Michelle Malkin’s.
He asked Democrat Rep. William “Cold Cash” Jefferson, the accused freezer cash-stashing subject of a 16-count criminal indictment whose public corruption trial is scheduled for Dec. 2, for some handy storage advice and an autograph last week.
Rep. Jefferson refused to provide either.
Jason’s first question: “”I was wondering if you could give me some advice? In your opinion what is the best way to stuff $90,000 in a freezer: a Hefty or a Ziploc bag?”
Oh, I know they were looking for some snarky way to remind folks how corrupt Jefferson is. But it still seems pointless. He has no shame, Nancy Pelosi has no shame, and his constituents have no shame. While some New Orleanians have had enough, Jefferson has a die-hard base that will defend him as relentlessly as Truthers parse the word “pulled.” The Man set him up or whatever… there’s always some excuse. Evidently it’s a family thing:
Meanwhile, Betty Jefferson, her brother, Mose Jefferson, and her daughter, Angela Coleman, are awaiting trial on charges they conspired to pocket more than $600,000 in state and federal grant money earmarked for charitable and educational programs.
William Jefferson’s youngest sibling, Brenda Jefferson, 52, pleaded guilty last month to helping her relatives conceal that alleged scheme. Rep. Jefferson isn’t accused of wrongdoing in that case.
Still, Congressman Jefferson is involved in mentoring, so that’s commendable, right? State Senator Derrick Shepherd evidently needed help laundering money, and Jefferson evidently was glad to assist. It’s heartwarming, really.
The state lawmaker, Sen. Derrick Shepherd, is accused of helping unlicensed bond broker Gwendolyn Joseph Moyo launder money to conceal her operation of an illegal insurance business. The indictment against him says a person identified only as public official “A” referred Shepherd to Moyo. Public official “B” helped Moyo launder money, according to the indictment. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Magner has said Moyo siphoned off around $400,000 to the two officials and businesses they control.
Shepherd’s lawyers said prosecutors told them that public official “A” is Jefferson and public official “B” is his sister, Betty, an elected New Orleans tax assessor.
More on the Shepherd/Jefferson connection here. Bottom line - while Mattera’s ambush was mildly amusing, it was pointless because Pelosi’s “most ethical Congress ev-ar” is a joke and voters don’t seem to comprehend or care that the joke is on them.
