The MEMRI Blog - Iran has mined the Persian Gulf

It just keeps getting better and better - The MEMRI Blog: The Kuwaiti daily Al-Watan reports that Iran has mined the Persian Gulf.

Here’s hoping those mines are like the missiles they launched, er, photoshopped. Because if this is true, you know how gas prices have been going down for nearly a month as new drilling areas are opened and pressure increases for more? That’s about to come to a screeching halt. Here comes $5 a gallon gas… if we’re lucky.

I wonder if the Kossacks still think Ahmadinejad is cuddly. It’s a safe bet to say, yeah. They probably do. They’ll be screeching “Gulf of Tonkin!” anytime now.

Remember the British sailors? Remember the speedboats in January? (Remember the USS Cole?)

It seems like a strange time to provoke us for no apparent reason. I guess they think we’ve got our hands full with Russia right now.

(Added: Mind you, there’s no way to know how accurate Al-Watan is; for all I know it’s the Kuwaiti version of the National Enquirer - in which case we’d probably have cause to worry.  Here’s hoping it’s more like the New York Times.  ;-)   But Iran has been steadily provoking us for some time, and escalating, so I certainly wouldn’t rule this out.)
