Obama: “Folks haven’t been reading their bible.”

Indeed:
This’ll be the last Obama post for a few days - even I’m sick of him. But I couldn’t resist posting this video. As much as I can’t stand McCain, I like Obama even less, and the sentiments he expressed in this video are one reason why.

Same old Democrat playbook from these guys, different year. I can’t wait until this election season is over, because like you, I can’t stand McCain either.
I haven’t decided whether I’ll be holding my nose or writing in someone else.
Disclaimer: I have not paid as close attention to every sound bite there is regarding the election as I’ve wanted to.
However, with video clips like this, I think it is important to review the whole picture.
As with most persuasive arguments, this video is unfairly skewed.
The clips of Obama are at least 2 years old.
The clips are severely edited; most likely cutting out parts it shouldn’t
The narrator claims that Obama is throwing out the entire books of Leviticus, Deuteronomy and the sermon on the mount, when in actuality, he is clearly only speaking of certain portions from each.
However, no one is perfect and I agree that he shouldn’t so casually mock scripture. That was wise at all even if just for rhetoric. Especially considering that anyone with a computer and a decent video card can totally skew what he was trying to say.
If someone has the entire speech I’d gladly listen to the whole thing (and I hope that others would to) before casting judgement on this one. Those who don’t are just as guilty as this video claims Obama is. We as christians should already be familiar with how dangerous it is to take anything out of context. In fact, perhaps that is what Obama was trying to point out in the first place.
Immunuel, I think his meaning was perfectly clear, and certainly betrayed a lack of understanding of biblical principles. The age of the video is not relevant. There is no portion of even Leviticus that should be “thrown out.” They have to be applied in context with the rest of the bible; with the knowledge that Jesus came to fulfill the law so that we no longer have to adhere to it. With that in mind, the verses that make us all so uncomfortable should not be mocked and disregarded, but respected because they illustrate God’s perfect holiness and our sinfulness, and point to the dire need for a Savior. While I’d be happy to listen to the rest of the speech if it’s available, this portion certainly made Obama’s view of faith more clear.
That said, his faith, or lack of, or faulty application thereof, or whatever - has no bearing on why I’m not voting for him. This just confirms the decision I had already made.

Here’s a relatively neutral clip of the same speech.
All I can say is that while I don’t believe that Obama (who aparently is standing in a church pulpit delivering this speech) is trying to discount the Bible, I do think that this type of politics is making way for the end times. It is inevitable.
The question is are we as Christians ready for it?
I think the end times are inevitable, regardless of what type of politics we practice.
As Christians, we’re not ready for today, much less the end times. Those undergoing persecution in other countries are far more ready, though, and I imagine as the time gets closer, we will be too.
True.. the end is inevitable. However, I think with Obama being called everything from Obamessiah to the Anti-Christ it sounds like the days of Christ’s birth and crucifiction. The world divided on who one man is and what is his purpose. Honestly, there are convicing arguments to either side. To me it foreshadows the events before, during, and after the rapture at a time where clinging to what is right will also seem to others as being extremist who are enemies to society.
As the liberals might not know, Hussein Obama is (or perhaps has already become) a kind of the savior for the USA, which is moving on toward the end times WITHOUT Alaska (which Palin aknowledges be a haven for some during Rapture), and the homosexual agenda and the murdering of millions of innocent children, no doubt will bring by Obama to our white house. The King James Bible, and our Constitution — formed on JudeoCHristian values, are the only true documents today of the new revelations of the word of God. The election doesn’t matter, we Christians — ready or not — know the end is approaching, in context of the Presidential election cycle, probably within the next eight years. Bush was the instigation, and Sarah Palin will bring forth Rapture, as a president-in-exile of Obama’s administration. 9/11 was evidence of the coming days, as God’s hatred for the abortions, and McCain is an instrument of God, whose purpose was to bring Sarah Palin to the world. Christians now must watch and wait. Are we ready?
