is that the girls all dress up as the same thing, even though their actual costumes may vary - a skank.

Talk about quitting while you’re ahead

This poor guy - after being on a bowling team for 45 years - bowled his first perfect game and immediately dropped dead of a heart attack.

“It was like a book, a final chapter,” says Place. “He threw his 300 game with all of his friends, gave each other high-fives and it’s like the story ended. He died with a smile on his face.”

Some people might say it’s not a bad way to go, and I guess it’s not, comparatively.  Considering the several other ways I’ve nearly died, given my druthers, I’d prefer to drop dead after a sporting achievement.  But I can’t imagine how this man’s wife must be feeling right now.

Japan will fire air force chief General Toshio Tamogami for saying that Tokyo was ensnared into World War Two by the United States and was not an aggressor, the country’s defence minister said on Friday.

These people need jobs, or lives, or something

Campaigners in London planned to petition the British government Friday for a posthumous pardon for the hundreds of people executed for witchcraft between the 16th and 18th centuries. … “We were gobsmacked to discover that though the law was changed hundreds of years ago and society had moved on, the victims were never officially pardoned.”

I agree with Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, the Vatican’s culture minister who said (in response to the suggestion that the Catholic Church apologize to Darwin), “Maybe we should abandon the idea of issuing apologies as if history was a court eternally in session.”

This is heartbreaking:

A husband suffocated his wife of 60 years before killing himself because he was afraid they could be separated by social services, an inquest heard. …After putting their finances in order he then wrote a letter to their children before drowning himself in the bath.

Can we talk?

The Anchoress got a very interesting email that pointed out that Senator Obama says Yes to Iran, No to WFTV:

Barack Obama said during the first debate that he would sit down and talk to Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism, without preconditions because he did not believe in the notion that by not talking to people we are somehow punishing them.

Then when a Florida TV reporter asks his VP candidate, Sen. Biden, some questions he didn’t like, their campaign cuts them off and refuses to talk to them or grant any further interviews.

So, Barack Obama is willing to sit down and talk with the regime that gave the order for the bombing of our Marine Barracks in Beirut but not willing to talk to an American TV station because of a few tough questions.

A good point.
