And now for something completely different.

No, not Monty Python, although I’m certainly a fan of those guys, especially this.  It is, however, a British entertainer: Mozart-playing toddler becomes youngest ever recording artist.

A four year old boy has become the youngest person ever to win a recording contract. Curtis Bushell has been signed to perform Mozart for a professional label alongside a concert pianist. The toddler, who started primary school in September, became the youngest person to pass his grade 1 piano exam this July after nine months’ tuition.

… He recorded Mozart’s Allegro in F without error on the first attempt at the recording studio for Halo records yesterday. Although he received no fee for the recording he will be entitled to 30 per cent of sales profits and his parents have promised a proportion will be donated to the NSPCC. He is expected to miss out his Grade 2 music exam and skip straight to Grade 3 next summer.

‘I love playing the piano,’ said the budding musician. ‘I liked learning the scales and the pieces. I want to keep playing but I want to be a doctor when I grow up.’
