McCain Deserves To Lose, Pt. 2

October 5, 2008 by Laura | Trackback URI

I meant it last week, and I mean it today. McCain doesn’t deserve to win because he refuses to fight for it.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, McCain continues to forbid his campaign from going after Obama for his longtime friendship and ideological partnership with Rev. Jeremiah Wright — and refuses to attack Obama on the Fannie/Freddie/CRA debacles because he fears being perceived as a racist.

Just like Congress’ shrieking about the financial “crisis” was disavowed by their political games and pork, McCain’s rhetoric on just how bad he believes an Obama presidency would be for the country is disavowed by his lack of action now.

I believe, along with millions of others, that an Obama presidency would be a very bad thing for America.  But McCain clearly doesn’t believe it.  A man who was willing to go to war and put his life on the line would not be hesitating to simply speak the truth now if he truly believed his own rhetoric about Obama.

What are the benefits of holding back?  Is he looking ahead to resuming his Senate career for a few more years?  Is he so deluded he thinks that his “friends” in the Democratic Party and the media are treating him fairly?  Whatever loyalty he may feel toward these people should be displaced by the demagogery they are engaging in now.  They will do whatever it takes to get Obama elected, truth be damned.  They will lie, mislead, obfuscate, embargo, misdirect, and engage in the worst sort of character assassination of anyone who opposes The One.  Does McCain believe the media’s view that it is racist to bring up these very legitimate questions about Obama’s character and people he has associated with for decades?  Is Soros paying him off?  Is he being blackmailed?  For pity’s sake, WHAT is it?!

Well, no matter.  I’m still voting for him.  I still hope he wins.  But I’m not hopeful that he will, because he can’t, or won’t, fight for it.  Furthermore, I will not indulge in despair.  (Because it is an indulgence – and a prideful one at that.)  God is not in heaven saying, “Oh, crap – look at the latest from Gallup!  Obama may win this thing!  What should I do?!”  No.  God puts the kings on the thrones.  (Romans 13:1-2)  So if we are terrified by the fact that Obama may very well win this election, then we have have lost sight of the fact that this kingdom isn’t really our home, and the President, while important, is not our ultimate authority:

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
(Colossians 1:13-23)

I heartily agree with The Anchoress’s sentiments:

If you’re feeling anxious, particularly about the uncertainty (and lack of trust) of our economy, our government or even the integrity of our electoral process, then this would be a good weekend to go to church. Step out of isolation and into the more communal mode.

Since it’s Sunday evening, if you haven’t gone already, then it’s likely too late.  But this week, consider fasting from the news for part of each day and devoting that time to prayer and devotions instead.  Meet with other Christians to pray – and not necessarily about the election but for ourselves; to better serve and glorify God in all circumstances.

Sarah palin is taking her political gameplan straight from Mein Kampf! She should be the first recipient of the Joseph Geobbels Award.
The four main points made by Goebbels in reference to propaganda are: Censor the opponant (belittle them), Emotion (make people angry at them), No depth ( keep the message short) and appeal to the Mass (stump speeches, no discussion)
    Congratulations Sarah!

“Raver” is certainly the right name for you – you’re raving mad.

Obama is the Goebbel’s candidate. His “truth squads” do their best to censor their opponents. He uses emotion – plays the race card or has his surrogates do it for him every time some inconvenient truths surface. No depth – he said himself he’s a blank canvas others project onto; perhaps the most honest thing he’s ever said. And appeal to the masses with those scary “Dear Leader” propaganda pieces – his art and supporter videos are downright creepy, and that whole “bandwagon” effect he’s been playing off for months seems to be based on illegal contributions. (And he refuses to give up the information on those donors.)

What you’re doing – it’s called “projection,” Mr. Raver.

I sincerely hope others take your advice and remember who our ultimate leader is – God. No matter what may befall this country our each of us in our own lives, our Father is in control if we will allow Him to be.

    Thanks for all you do!

Oh man. These last 3 responses pretty much removed any little bit of hope i had for this country. You people are nuts. Do you all forget we live in the “UNITED” States of America? You people are so hell-bent on separating yourself from everyone else in anyway possible. Mccain, Palin, Obama, Biden, all of them are just politicians. They don’t care about anything but their own personal agendas. They all put on a fake smile and say whatever it is you want to hear in hopes of getting into office and not doing a damn thing like the last idiot in office.
People stop bickering over something so futile as politics. There is no right and wrong. Just your opinion over someone else. You all look like a bunch of 5 year olds arguing on the playground over who has the better toy.
Tiffany, forgive me if I misinterpret what you are saying but our “ultimate leader” is not God. He may be for you and a large group of others however I live in a country that should be priding itself on separation of church and state. I respect your beliefs but He is the true leader of this country.

Oops, a bit of a mistake while editing. I meant to say “He is not the true leader of this country.” Sorry for that.

Blank, how postmodern of you. Since there is no right and wrong, you don’t have a problem, I’m sure, with my tracking you down, murdering you, and stealing your property. If you have children, I could kidnap and enslave them. Or sell them to a child sex ring! Objective truth, morality, personal rights… whatever… none of it matters. Everything is equal!

See, politicians, regardless of whatever their personal beliefs, DO in fact advance an agenda that affects peoples lives. I don’t necessarily have any particular emotion toward a politician I support; I either support their agenda or I don’t.
