If those questions, and the rest in the poll, had been asked and answered before the election, Obama could not have won. America is just not that far left.
Shep claims that the media essentially just went with the flow, and that “the movement” was determined by some magical outside force. Obama’s charisma, doubtless. But who made straight Obamessiah’s path if not a complaisant media, that post-election has admitted they favored Obama? Who hammered Palin at every turn for offenses real and imagined, while giving Biden a pass for far worse?
Who couldn’t find the time to interview Ayers or Dohrn or cover the truth about what they’d done to gain their notoriety? In the midst of wall to wall coverage of Sarah Palin’s wardrobe, was there not a moment to mention the quote “Guilty as sin, free as a bird!” and the fact that Obama worked closely with this guy and helped fund his radical causes? In all the photos of Sarah Palin’s shoes, was there no still shot from the video the LA Times purposely hid of Obama at a dinner honoring an antisemitic terror supporter?
Who failed to mention abortion and Obama’s determination to sign FOCA at his first opportunity?
It is not the media’s job to follow any movement. It is the job of the media to report the facts, even the ones they don’t personally like. The same people having a hissy fit about Palin seeking God’s will for her life are publishing drivel like this in Time magazine that directly compares Obama to Jesus Christ:

I’ve disliked Shep Smith (with cause) since Katrina. He disgraced himself then, and he hasn’t improved. His denial of the painfully obvious truth about his profession reveals him to be a fool or a liar.
