Another year of global warming?

homepageglobalwarmingWell, 2008 was another year of global warming, err, cooling.  Watts Up With That has covered it extensively.  The ice in Greenland is growing.  And while anecdotes do not equal data, the anecdotes are piling up.  Baby, it’s cold outside.  It snowed here in New Orleans!  And the Worst Climate Predictions of 2008 is not to be missed.  For global warming links and commentary, Watts Up With That is the site to read.

As the evidence against catastrophic, anthropogenic global warming piles up, the alarmists are trying to change the definition.  We first went from “global warming” to “climate change” and now even “global warming” is being redefined.  It’s Orwellian.

Global warming isn’t really about warming temperatures (although that is the general conception). It’s more about extremes and, if you need more proof than the weather patterns of the past couple of years, your name must be George W. Bush.

Yes, that word “warming” in the phrase “global warming” could lead one to conclude that people are claiming the temperature of the globe is increasing.  Go figure.

Flopping Aces reminds us, “Since 1998, the earth has been cooling… not warming.” and does a nice roundup of James Hansen’s deplorable use of our tax dollars to promote the propaganda from which Al Gore is making millions.

McQ at Right Wing News has an excellent end-of-year roundup filled with linky goodness and a stunning timeline. He concludes, hopefully,

The key – getting the media on board with the skeptics. The way to do it? Keep circulating factual information like this which refute the sensationalist and alarmist AGW claims the media seems so fond of publishing right now. There has to be a limit to how long they’ll tolerate looking foolish on this issue. One has to hope it is before the politicians can tax us into the poor-house.

I think he’s a bit too optimistic, frankly. I believe we’ll see more Orwellian redefinitions and implementation of internet controls. Not total, but just enough to keep the sheeple in line. Given the number of people who think Sarah Palin is an unqualified idiot in spite of her resume, which is indisputable, given the number of people who still believe the Iraq war is lost and/or unwinnable, given the number of people who believe Israel is the aggressor and that Jimmy Carter is a force for good in the world… I could go on, but why? The media and the left (but I repeat myself) don’t have to keep it up forever. Just long enough to get the political and economic change they seek, at which point they can congratulate themselves on their success in defeating global warming. And most of the public will buy it, because they watch Katie Couric a few times a week and consider themselves well-informed.

Also from Flopping Aces – the Twelve Days of Global Warming. Enjoy!

Haven’t you noticed the change? It’s not “global warming” that I keep hearing about anymore…it’s “climate change”. Now they’ve both ends of the spectrum covered. No matter how hot or cold it gets it’s all our (read – human beings; usually from the conservative side) fault.

It’s aggravating, isn’t it? Have you seen this YouTube of 50s global warming propaganda? Followed just a decade later by the global cooling and overpopulation scares of the 70s…
