Is that me on your milk carton?

homepagecoffee2I just haven’t had much to say the last few days.  I’ve been reading the bible and praying a great deal.  Aside from the bible, I’m reading Tom Clancy’s The Bear and the Dragon, A Woman’s Guide to Spiritual Warfare, and Spurgeon’s Beside Still Waters – Words Of Comfort For The Soul, and a couple of books related to what’s going on with that sick family member I’ve mentioned.   I got my husband hooked on Elizabeth Moon’s Esmay Suiza series, starting with Once A Hero.  In between all this reading, we’ve been taking naps.  I’m not sure why we’re so exhausted – maybe it’s cumulative of all the recent events, maybe we’re resting up for what’s next, or maybe it’s just a midwinter semi-hibernation.  And though I drink a lot of coffee, it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

We got our new keyless locks, so not only is our home better secured from the lunatic who hates us, we have the added convenience of remote controls to get in.  So if I’m bringing in groceries, it’s nice to just hit a remote control button to release the deadbolt.  That was worth a couple hundred bucks, frankly.  It wasn’t worth losing a 26 year friendship to get them, but that wasn’t my choice.  (sigh)  I am at least getting easier about praying for him.  I’m getting a much fuller appreciation of my own sin.  Not the same sins as his, but not better ones.  Not less displeasing in God’s eyes, anyway.

We also found a new shooting range, so next gun show we’re going to load up on ammo and go have some fun.  :-)   Anybody else hearing wacky rumors about how ammunition is going to be strictly regulated, and that they’re going to start making it so it isn’t good after a year?  I started to type “Obama ammunition” into my Google search bar, and the suggested strings that came up were interesting… Obama ammunition tax, Obama ammunition ban, Obama ammunition proposal, prices, policy, sales, control, plan, bill, laws… I didn’t bother clicking through because I’ll lobby against it when something’s actually proposed.  No point in getting wound up until then.

I’ve had some interesting emails from readers (Deanna, Jonnathan, Michael, Denise, Gerald) in the last month and most I’ve responded to.  It’s a bit of a surprise to me every time I see a comment on this blog or get an email from a reader.  I know what the stats say, but I still find it hard to believe anyone reads it!  Gerald, sorry, but if I’m unwilling to argue certain topics in the comment section here, it should stand to reason that I’m also unwilling to argue them via email.  In the post you referenced I provided a link to a site where civil debate on that topic is conducted.  If you don’t like that website, there’s a bunch of others like it.  Google it.

So things are getting back to normal after the holidays and all the commotion over here.  I hope things are settling down for you all too, and the year is starting out well for you.
