What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.
(Ecclesiastes 1:9)
And in keeping with Solomon’s attitude throughout Ecclesiastes, I’m feeling rather sarcastic and cynical.
I wish the Beeb were as neutral about Israel as they are about the dead Somali pirates.
Bow to the gay lobby – or else! (Or else WHAT? Gauchos will come back in fashion? Plaid will become “the new black?” Kiss of the Spider Woman will go back out on tour?) Obama decided he’d better not risk it, though -
The selection of New Hampshire Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson for Sunday’s event follows weeks of criticism from gay-rights groups over Obama’s decision to have the Rev. Rick Warren give the invocation at his Jan. 20 inauguration.
Here’s the thing – it’s not going to be enough. Nothing short of same sex marriage, PLUS special legal protection, will suffice. Unintentionally amusing was Robinson’s pledge: “I will be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer. This is a prayer for the whole nation.”‘
(h/t Jonnathan, who wonders, “What is WRONG with people!” Thanks for the tip!)
As usual, Microsoft can’t release software timely or efficiently. So they’re trying to generate a little goodwill, along with an unlimited number of keys for Win7.
How sausage is made: YouTube (a hub of terrorist propaganda) will now serve up lawmakers at work. (Congress. At Work. That’s some very low-hanging joke fruit.)
A dream job for some – $100k a year to live on an island and snorkel. I’d probably be eaten by a shark on the first day.
Does anyone know Al Gore’s whereabouts? Global warming strikes again.
Moonbats will screech like a goth in the sun when they read this: Gitmo isn’t going to be immediately closed. Wow, all those innocent goat-herders swept up by imperialist neocons will have to stay locked up in the vile torture chambers a bit longer. That’s really sad. It’s true that I’m grinning, but deep inside, I grieve for those goat-herders, and for the crushed hopes of all those who want to set them free. One good way to cope with the despair is to protest by eating like detainees.

You’re welcome, Laura. LOL @ the catastrophic backlash of bowing to the gay lobby (plaid will become “the new black”—heavens forfend!) Sadly, there truly will be a moral backlash to any compromise with the same-sex mafia; and judgment will be the manifest outcome of any sort of ‘victory’ on their part.
On this vein, we’re having a revival meeting at our church this week and one of the sermons was about compromise; I open my mailbox and I have a daily devotional on compromise…I am praying hard that God will expose all areas of compromise in my life because we can become so complacent and think “we’re all right”. I remember one morning thinking to myself, not maliciously but going over all the good things God has done for me: “Well, I’m so thankful I have a peaceful life and, though I don’t have much, I want for nothing” to which God promptly replied: “Complacency can masquerade as contentment.” I had to repent right then and there! I’m not rich by any stretch of the imagination, I live paycheck to paycheck, but somehow the same attitude of self-satisfaction that plagued the rich man (Luke 12:16-21) and the Pharisee (Luke 18:9-14) took root in me and it was very clear. I had a serious case of “I’m-better-than-X-itis”.
Whether rich or poor, Republican or Democrat, we American Christians need to realize that internalizing our culture’s notion of tolerance is just one more step towards complacency and apostasy. It is a siren call that will dull our spiritual discernment and lull the Church into a foolish coma. We should be alert and recognize that we were never called to “live and let live” but to glorify Christ through good works and be the salt of the earth through our witness (I include all witness styles here: from Martyrdom to baking a pie for your next door neighbor). Only then can we show people that God does love you as you are, but that you must repent in order to understand true righteousness. Ok, sorry for the sermon (I really should be working anyways–my apologies Lord).
