David Wilkerson, of World Challenge and Cross and the Switchblade fame, has predicted an “AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE – EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.”
Well. Perhaps so, but it seems like a Pat Robertson, Oral Roberts shark jump to me. In any event, John Piper’s response seems more than adequate:
But my own effort to be discerning says: Stick with the Bible, David. It is scary enough. And it is absolutely true. And your credibility will never fall.
I think that Piper’s suthat abortion and other things ARE the judgment we’re undergoing – that we’re already under God’s wrath – is a concept worth consideration.

I think this is a message from God’s heart to be prepared. But I think it can cause some fear in the saints of God. Zac Poonen brings some good balance to this in his personal response here: http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=27808&forum=34
Greg
I am so tired of false prophets using God’s name in vain. How about we deal with them the way God said, and when they turn out to be wrong, we kill them?
I don’t adhere to any of the other OT laws, so I don’t think I’ll start with that one. I’ll settle for mockery. If they can call down some bears on me, then maybe I’ll believe.
Remember David is the man that made over 2000 sandwichs on Sept 10, 2001. Scratching his head to why God wanted him to this. His ministery is in downtown New York City.
I don’t conclude that God did want him to do it. I think he’s just mistaken.
The sandwich thing was a fraud, as is this..
