And a reminder of how far we’ve fallen down the cultural rabbit hole – though I had to go and sign a paper authorizing my daughter’s ear-piercing a few years ago, a lot of people think it should have been permissible for her to undergo a surgical abortion procedure without my consent or even knowledge. I love John Adams, and I’m glad he’s finally getting some recognition since the book and miniseries came out. He’s as flawed as Jefferson, in his own way, but his contributions were so incredible, his sacrifices so huge, that it seemed crazy he wasn’t better recognized.
