Bill Maher beclowns himself again in this “salute” to the troops:
Forget about bringing the troops home from Iraq. We need to get the troops home from World War II. Can anybody tell me why, in 2009, we still have more than 50,000 troops in Germany and 30,000 in Japan? At some point, these people are going to have to learn to rape themselves. [boos] I’ll ignore that.
What really amazed me is that some (not all) of his audience at least had the decency to boo him for that remark. I’ll think a little better of them in the future.
If we do pull our troops out, we can always send in the UN. Rape and other assorted sex crimes are services they’re happy to provide. Evidently if you reach your quota you get promoted
In any large group – hundreds of thousands of people in our military – there will be some criminals. I suggest that the ratio of criminals to non-criminals in the military is better than that of criminals to non-criminals in Congress and the Obama administration. If we can shake Nancy Pelosi loose and get that swamp drained, we’d know for sure. The difference is, when we find criminals in our military, we prosecute them; we don’t re-elect them, allow them to keep their chairmanships, or appoint them Treasury Secretary.
