Tired

homepagefeministI have an attitude problem. In part because I feel awful physically, but it’s deeper than that. I’m cynical, pessimistic, and more sarcastic than ever. In all honesty, I feel like issuing a hearty “eff you” to about half the people I encounter each day. Regardless of whether they really deserve it. They just get on my nerves.

And the news just makes it worse, which is why I’ve been avoiding it to some extent. After half an hour of it today, I feel like hitting something.

Starting with the PETA idiots, considering for one minute taking Michael Vick on as a spokesman. But then again, it’s actually rather fitting, considering how many animals PETA kills.

Bwahahaha!!! Thermagedden!

American feminists have clearly achieved all of their goals. Otherwise, why would they have moved on to advocate for another group? Not to mention having the spare time to criticize another woman for speaking her mind in public! Back in the kitchen, you dissenter!

These ugly shoes represent more than half of my mortgage payment this month. I don’t begrudge anyone their money. What ticks me off is when rich people act like being rich is a crime or a moral fault, then carry on blowing money on wildly expensive, useless crap like rich people tend to do. Pick a position and stick with it!!

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Except, you know, those of us who said all along that these Bush Derangement Syndrome idiots would do anything, anything at all, to get even with him and everyone who worked for him for having the temerity to implement policies with which the left disagreed. John Hawkins is right – we need to start playing their game.

Abortion deaths ≠ deaths of innocents killed in war. What kind of moral imbecile do you have to be to not understand that? A baby killed by an abortion is purposely targeted for the express purpose of killing the baby. A child killed as collateral damage in a bombing has been unintentionally killed. If you can’t see the difference between those two scenarios, you, madam, are a jackass. Obviously, I agree with CS Lewis on this one:

The doctrine that war is always a greater evil seems to imply a materialist ethic, a belief that death and pain are the greatest evils. But I do not think they are. I think the suppression of a higher religion by a lower, or even a higher secular culture by a lower, a much greater evil. Nor am I greatly moved by the fact that many of the individuals we strike down in war are innocent. […] The question is whether war is the greatest evil in the world, so that any state of affairs which might result from submission is certainly preferable. And I do not see any really cogent arguments for that view.

The world is a fallen, imperfect place. Deal with it.

Empathy… have you been in a bad frame of mind as well? If so… I’m sorry to hear it – I hate to think of others feeling as bad as I’ve been lately.

Bad frame of mind is putting it mildly for me. I can totally relate to the attitude of just telling half the people to “eff you”. I stopped blogging and took a break from news because it was simply too depressing. I found myself becoming more and more cynical and the urge to just beat my head on the nearest hard object was overwhelming. Self preservation kicked in. Not sure when I’ll go back to it all. My brief forays into the news world and politics leave me more disgusted than before.

I’ve been making it a point to memorize this and tell it to myself frequently when my blood pressure shoots up at the latest media outrage:

They did not receive the things God had promised, but from a long way off they saw them and welcomed them, and admitted openly that they were foreigners and refugees on earth. Those who say such things make it clear that they are looking for a country of their own. They did not keep thinking about the country they had left; if they had, they would have had the chance to return. Instead, it was a better country they longed for, the heavenly country. And so God is not ashamed for them to call him their God, because he has prepared a city for them. (Hebrews 11:13-16)
