About Laura
(Yes, I'm on a Moonbattery kick lately...) The New York Times has their knickers in a twist over the conservative influence on the Texas history curriculum. Gregory of Yardale notes:
You're cheating yourself if you don't.
A U.K. millionaire is selling his business and getting rid of his possessions. He's going to help orphans in Uganda. "I try to live my life in a way that pleases God," he said. "I've never been more sure about anything in my life."
David Vitter's tele-town hall just robocalled me, and of course, I'm sticking around to listen to the bitter end. What's really hilarious is that every second or third question, the person also tosses in a slam against Mary Landrieu, commenting on her unresponsiveness especially with regard to the health care bill. If she were up for re-election this year, she'd be toast.
My son in law is leaving for Iraq today - please keep him and my daughter in your prayers. And blogging will be light, because after we bring him to his base, I'll be hanging out with my daughter the rest of the day.

It is sad but the problem is even people of my generation (that’d be X) were never even TAUGHT THESE THINGS in the first place. (There was virtually NOTHING on the whole gamut of Amendments, outside of some gloss on the Bill of Rights and the cabinet positions? Yeah, more likely to learn that on Schoolhouse Rocks or something.)
The only reason I can answer most of those questions is because I turned into a history/civics buff long, long after grade school. (And if you want to further depress yourself, try and find a math textbook from the 50s–it’ll make your hair stand up!)
