Denmark has fallen.
Is the headline a bit dramatic? Well, I’ve was reading WWI and WWII era fiction last month, and I may have been a bit influenced. But when I see stories like this one, I don’t know what else to conclude.
Danish school administrators are refusing to allow Jews to enroll out of fear of violence… Not from the Jewish children, but from the Muslim immigrant children that attend the schools.
Sure, there’s still a bit of resistance. A handful of people are still willing to fight back. But if it’s come to this, the war can only be won by going on offense; it’s too late for defense. And by offense, I mean demand assimilation or deportation. Outlaw headscarves the way France did. No exceptions for things like school swim classes. Make sure bacon is on every menu of every public restaurant. Stop issuing permits to build mosques. Start having people visit mosques and make sure that violence is not being preached. There’s quite a lot that they can do to stand up for their country and culture. But are they too dhimmified to do it?
“Picking on” Jimmy Carter?
January 6, 2009 by Laura · Leave a Comment
I’ve seldom seen an article as disengenuous as this one. The author commands us to “stop picking on” Jimmy Carter, and lists the reasons why he believes Carter was a good President. For example, “He kept us out of endless wars.” I just need one word to respond to that bit of sophistry: IRAN.
And to this day, he’s yet to meet an Islamofascist thug he doesn’t like, to the point of recently advising Hamas on how much ransom to charge for their kidnap victims.

Is that me on your milk carton?

I just haven’t had much to say the last few days. I’ve been reading the bible and praying a great deal. Aside from the bible, I’m reading Tom Clancy’s The Bear and the Dragon, A Woman’s Guide to Spiritual Warfare
, and Spurgeon’s Beside Still Waters - Words Of Comfort For The Soul
, and a couple of books related to what’s going on with that sick family member I’ve mentioned. I got my husband hooked on Elizabeth Moon’s Esmay Suiza series, starting with Once A Hero
. In between all this reading, we’ve been taking naps. I’m not sure why we’re so exhausted - maybe it’s cumulative of all the recent events, maybe we’re resting up for what’s next, or maybe it’s just a midwinter semi-hibernation. And though I drink a lot of coffee, it doesn’t seem to make a difference.
We got our new keyless locks, so not only is our home better secured from the lunatic who hates us, we have the added convenience of remote controls to get in. So if I’m bringing in groceries, it’s nice to just hit a remote control button to release the deadbolt. That was worth a couple hundred bucks, frankly. Read more
A Day Late, Bible Reading Plans
January 2, 2009 by Laura · Leave a Comment
A day late but not a dollar short, given that they’re all free… here are a variety of bible study reading plans. My husband and I are reading together (out loud!) the chronological bible. (Amazing, the things you have time for when you don’t have cable TV.) This is an actual printed bible like this one, not just a reading plan. It took about fifteen minutes, and it was a very pleasant end to the day. However, good as it is, it doesn’t take the place of individual daily devotions. So I looked at these bible reading plans to see what appeals. Or, if I want to get all churchy, which plan I “felt led” to follow. What I really love about all these plans is you can get them via RSS, email, and a variety of other options. This’ll be in the “daily” folder of my Google Reader. I’ve subscribed to the Daily Reading Bible, which covers the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice in a year. It looks like it’ll take about 10 minutes to read, so if I miss a day, it will not be hard to catch up. And realistically, I’m going to miss a day, or two, or more. But a plan where even if I had to double up in order to catch up, would only take 15-20 minutes a day, is an achievable goal.
Another year of global warming?

Well, 2008 was another year of global warming, err, cooling. Watts Up With That has covered it extensively. The ice in Greenland is growing. And while anecdotes do not equal data, the anecdotes are piling up. Baby, it’s cold outside. It snowed here in New Orleans! And the Worst Climate Predictions of 2008 is not to be missed. Read more

Only Idiots Trash Their Spouses
Julie Baumgardner is surprised by the fact that people attack their spouses to their friends. I first noticed it when Roseanne was a popular television show, but attacks, blameshifting, and failure to take responsibility been going on since marriage began:
The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” (Genesis 3:12)
It’s not my fault - the problem is my spouse! But only a self-centered, thoughtless idiot will trash their spouse to other people. That kind of behavior indicates phenomenally bad judgment on several levels:
- If your complaints are 100% accurate, what kind of idiot are you for marrying that person? Should you be calling attention to that fact?
